Search for man missing in Wyoming suspended

On Monday afternoon, the extensive search in the Wind River Range of Wyoming for the husband of a seasonal Glacier National Park ranger was suspended. Fremont County Sheriff's Department Sgt. Jerry Evagelatos said Friday that from 45 to 60 people were searching for missing 46-year-old Clay Rubano, an employee of the National Outdoor Leadership School in Lander, Wyo. Rubano's wife, Rachael Jenkins, is a seasonal park ranger.

According to Evagelatos, Rubano had plans to hike above the falls on the Middle Fork of the Popo Agie River in the Shoshone National Forest on Saturday. Rubano did not show up for work at NOLS on Monday and his car was found that afternoon in a parking lot about 10 miles south of Lander.

The search consisted of more than 40 hours of flight time by helicopters, between 5,000 and 6,000 man hours and a concentrated coverage of about 7,200 acres, or 11 square miles.

An active investigation will continue as Rubano is still considered a missing person. Any new information about Rubano's location will constitute restaging the search efforts in the area.
