Glacier Twins meeting Nov. 15

The Glacier Twins American Legion baseball organization has scheduled a general meeting for Thursday, Nov. 15 at 7 p.m. in the downstairs meeting room at Mountain West Bank, 601 Spokane Ave. in Whitefish.

All returning Twins players and prospective new players must attend this meeting along with at least one parent. To be eligible to play American Legion baseball in 2008, a player must have a birth date of Jan. 1, 1989 or later. Players cannot reach their 20th birthday anytime during 2008.

The Glacier Twins program fields two teams each year. The AA senior team competes in the Western Division of the Montana/Alberta American Legion Baseball Association along with the Great Falls Electrics, Great Falls Stallions, Kalispell Lakers, Lethbridge Elks, Medicine Hat Moose Monarchs and Missoula Mavericks. The 2008 AA state tournament will be played in Great Falls.

The Twins' A junior team competes in the Northern Subdivision of the Western District of the Montana/Alberta ALB Association with the Kalispell Lakers, Kootenai Valley Rangers of Eureka and Libby Loggers. The 2008 A district tourney will be in Florence with Vauxhall, Alberta, hosting the state tournament.

Since 1925, the American Legion has sponsored a nationwide youth baseball program. American Legion members have raised and spent millions of dollars in order for young players to learn the importance of teamwork, discipline, leadership and sportsmanship.

American Legion Roosevelt Post 108 is the sponsor of Glacier Twins baseball.
