Girls beat Eureka in tennis

The Columbia Falls girls tennis team beat Eureka Monday night 4-3. Sarah Marcille lead the Kats with a straight sets victory over Megan Koshatka, 6-0, 6-1. Shelby Hobbs defeated Kyrystal Doll, 6-1, 6-7 (5-7), 6-0.

In doubles, Chelsey Wilson and Jessica Feretti defeated Martina Quade and Heather Lands, 7-6 (7-1), 7-6 (7-1) and Michelle Cronquist and Carrie Hopkins defeated Kae Dee Shay and Brianna Lundberg, 7-5, 6-3.

It was the girls first win as a team this season.

But the tennis teams failed to win a match against Bigfork last week.

Both the boys and girls squads were blanked 7-0, 7-0.

The boys forfeited two singles matches. The doubles team of Grant Getts and Cody Maynard, lost to Kainoa Lake and Owen Robert, 6-4, 6-3.

Sarah Marcille had the closest match for the girls, but came up short against Bigfork's Breanna Hughes, 7-5, 6-2.

The Kats Stephanie Raymond, Charli Dobson, and Katie Newman also played, but had a tough time winning a game against their opponents.

In doubles, neither team fared much better.
