Boys, girls are first, second in track

Ten Whitefish athletes earned first-place spots in the A.R.M. Invitational track meet on Saturday, and the boys team out scored 12 other teams to take first place overall with 116 points. Columbia Falls placed second for the boys with 111.5 points.

Whitefish also earned second place overall in the girls meet with 122.33 points. Hamilton took first for the girls with 143 points, and Columbia Falls placed third with 82.16 points.

First-place Bulldog finishers included Courtney Ferda, who sprinted 100 meters in 12.73. Beth Donovan placed first in the 1,600 meter in 5:37.50, and Loni Hanson placed first in the grueling 3,200 meter in 12:58.00.

Ashley Ferda took first in the 100 hurdles in 15.71 and joined Marni Hale, Lauren Kuennen and Courtney Ferda to take first in the 400-meter relay. Carmel Johnston rocketed to first place in the pole vault with a height of 9-0.

First-place finishers for the boys included Ian Mallams, who finished the 1,600 meter in 4:32.70, and Drew Coco, who won the 3,200 in 10:18.23.

Cort Rogers took two firsts — the 110 hurdles in 15.33 and the pole vault with a height of 14-0.

Also for the girls, Courtney Ferda took second in the 400 in 59.73. Anne Danczyk placed fourth in the 800 in 2:34.64 and third in the 1,600 in 5:40.19; Jana Rozar was right behind Danczyk in the 1,600 for fourth, and Clare Miller finished fifth. Miller also placed third in the 3,200 meter.

Jade Hansen placed third in the 100 hurdles in 17.21, and Jessica Nolan finished fourth in the pole vault at 8-0. Hailey Farmin placed fourth in the long jump at 14-6.5, and Ashley Ferda placed third in javelin with a distance of 110-00.

BreAnna Cameron placed fourth in the triple jump with a distance of 32-3 and Farmin placed sixth with 31-7.5. Whitefish placed second in the 1,600 relay in 4:17.97.

For the boys, Danny Neff placed fourth in the 100 in 11.54 and Henry King placed sixth in 11.77. Neff also placed fourth in the 200 in 24.03 and sixth in the long jump at 18-2 1/4.

Drew Coco took second in the 1,600 in 4:38.51, and Mallams placed second in the 3,200 in 10:32.89.

In the 110 hurdles, Seth Wiley placed fourth in 17.12 and Sam Wiley placed sixth in 17.84.

In the 300 hurdles, Seth Wiley placed third in 43.81 and Cort Rogers placed sixth in 44.20.

In the relays, the boys placed second in the 400 in 44.85 and fourth in the 1,600 relay in 3:41.34.

Aaron Tkachyk took second in the long jump with a distance of 19-4, and Kaleb Prestegaard placed third in pole vault with a height of 12-0.
