Snowboard theft lack of respect

I would like to urge the young people of our great community to show a sense of decency for others.

On Friday night, March 2, my son's brand new snowboard was stolen outside of Mogul's restaurant on Big Mountain. We were attending the awards ceremony for the fourth Night Riders competition series.

Being a Friday night, most of the people on the mountain were there for the competition. His board was on the rack along with his other teammates'. It is a shame that a young 15-year-old who worked hard at a local restaurant all summer to save for his new snowboard would have everything taken away so quickly.

As a parent, you try to teach children to have a sense of decency and treat others with respect. Apparently, the person who took his snowboard has no respect for others or their property.

I urge this person to return the brand new Burton Blunt snowboard (red/black) with Burton Cartell bindings (one black, one white). The value of $600 is not covered by any insurance and amounts to about 100 hours of hard work by my son.

It's hard to teach young people a good work ethic when they are violated with such a loss. If "found," the snowboard and bindings can be left anonymously at the Whitefish Pilot, Whitefish High School or Stumptown Snowboards (where purchased).

My son is a member of the Big Mountain snowboard team and desperately needs his equipment returned. I greatly appreciate your help.
