Community Choir

The Columbia Falls Community Choir will begin practices Jan. 7 from 2-4 p.m. Sundays at the Columbia Falls Junior High. Sign-in and music pickup is from 1:30 to 2 p.m. at the first practice. There are 12 practices this year, with the final rehearsal March 30. The concert is March 31. For more information, call 892-5174.

Cheer camp

The Columbia Falls Wildcat cheerleading camp is 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. for grades K-8 Jan. 6. Forms are available at all schools. Cost is $35. Call Leslie Dimaio at 471-9212 for more information.

Chamber meets

The Columbia Falls Chamber of Commerce meets at noon at the North Valley Community Building Jan. 9. Guest speaker is Bill Shaw, Columbia Falls city manager.

Economic forecast

The fifth annual Flathead Valley economic forecast is Jan. 18 at 7:30 a.m. at the Red Lion Inn in Kalispell featuring Jim Kelley's real estate analysis and Greg Davis, an economist with FVCC. There is no charge, but folks are asked to RSVP at kate@dobusinessinmontana.com or call 257-7711. Event is sponsored by Montana West Economic Development and the Flathead Valley Chambers of Commerce.

Open house

The Glacier Outdoor Center will have an open house Jan. 13 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. with half price snowshoe and ski rentals, a bonfire, chili and free skiing of 10 km of its own groomed trails. The center is located on Highway 2 West just before the entrance to Glacier National Park.

Ski Fest

There is a ski festival at the Izaak Walton Inn this weekend with free trail passes, lessons and demo equipment. Events start at 10 a.m. each day. Call the Inn at 888-5700 for more information.

Horsemen meet

The Back Country Horsemen of the Flathead will hold its regular monthly meeting Jan. 9 at 7:30 p.m., at the Fish, Wildlife and Parks Building, located at 490 North Meridian Road (across from the Fairgrounds). A chainsaw sharpening class will start at 6:30 p.m. The class and meeting are open to the public and all are welcome.

Audubon meets

Wildlife biologist Lewis Young will talk about the Columbian Sharp-tailed Grouse at the Jan. 8 meeting of the Flathead Audubon Society. The meeting begins at 7 p.m. in the Community Room of The Summit, 205 Sunnyview Lane, Kalispell. Meetings are free and all are welcome.
