Salute to first Penguin

| February 22, 2007 10:00 PM

On behalf of the Whitefish Royal Carnival Party, we would like to thank Ted Lund for his complete set of his treasured Carnival buttons. They were put on auction at the "Night of the Stars" banquet and dinner as one of the most sought-after auction items, and Nancy Svennungsen finally was able to purchase them.

Last year, Mr. Lund generously gave the Whitefish Winter Carnival Committee his wife's set of buttons to auction off, and this year he gave his own set.

We were so pleased that Ted was able to attend the King and Queen's Coronation at the Moose Lodge this year. He also regaled the crowd with the story of how the Penguins came to be in the Whitefish Carnival Parade.

The Carnival, the gala dinner and dance, the skijoring event, the Penguin Plunge, the St. Charles pie social, the torchlight parade, the Rotary pancake breakfast and all the festivities were a huge hit this year because of many volunteers and the Whitefish Winter Carnival Committee.

Thank you all for a great time — and especially to you, Ted Lund.
