Join the next river cleanup

| August 9, 2007 11:00 PM

The organizers of the Whitefish River Cleanup held July 28 would like to extend a hearty thank you to its sponsors and participants.

Each member of the team went beyond what was asked of him or her. They each made a significant impact by simply showing up. Then they stayed focused on the task, dedicating two-to-three hours to the project beyond what was scheduled.

Thank you. We collected hundreds of pounds of beer cans, bottles, plastic bags, industrial parts, rusted tin cans, five-gallon chemical containers, shoes, brooms and other garbage from the river.

Without cash and in-kind donations, the project couldn't have gotten off the ground. A thank you goes out to the following: Rebecca Lyman, Whitefish Credit Union, Sportsman & Ski Haus, Nelson's Hardware, The Bean Hive, McDonald's of Whitefish, Norm's News, Coffee Traders, Great Northern Brewery, The Johansen Foundation, Grouse Mountain Lodge, Whitefish Lake Restaurant, Celebrate! Party Rentals, Western Building Centers, Otto Hallgren, Towne Printer, Whitefish City Beach, Marilyn and Richard Hensley.

With continued support and more volunteers and organizations willing to show that they care for their river by getting involved, the impact can increase exponentially. To register for upcoming events, e-mail whitefishrivercleanup@gmail.com or call 270-5997.

An additional cleanup will be held Saturday, Aug. 18, pending sufficient interest through pre-registration. Will you come?
