The first conference game for the boys soccer team was an oh-so-close upset.

The Cats took on rival Bulldogs at home last Thursday and lost 3-2 to a Whitefish team that relies heavily on foreign talent - literally. The team starts four foreign exchange students.

The Bulldogs took a lead early in the match in the 15th minute 2-0.

But the Wildcats didn't let the Bulldogs run away with the game. They held their ground and came back to tie it 2-2 by halftime.

Chase Jackson helped narrow the score when he made a goal on an assist from Jonathan Torres. Team Captain Dustin Gibson also scored on a penalty kick in the first half.

Overall, the Cats had 13 goal shots and Whitefish had 10.

The game winning goal came from Whitefish's Alex Konopatzke in the second half.

Saturday, the Cats bounced back and took out Bigfork.

The Cats lead the game 3-0 by the half. Dustin Gibson, D.J. Stoneman and Peter Vanhorn each found the net.

Columbia Falls had 20 shots at the net, more than doubling Bigfork who had seven.

Keith Appleton and Jonathon Torres each had a goal after the half, finalizing the win 5-0 over Bigfork.

The Cats lost to Flathead High School Tuesday 5-3 in Kalispell. Stoneman scored one goal and Gibson put in two for the Cats.

The Cats play at home on Saturday at 1 p.m. against Libby.
