Carroll J. (Hap) Rost
Carroll J. (Hap) Rost, 82, died on Wednesday, Nov.15, 2006, at Brendan House, in Kalispell. He was born on Oct. 11, 1924, in a log cabin to Ludwig "Happy" and Clarice (Chapman) Rost.
Hap enjoyed the Montana life of fishing, hunting and horses. He worked as a heavy equipment operator most of his life. He very much enjoyed being a pilot and flying his own plane. Most people will remember Hap from a meal that he treated them to. He enjoyed inviting others out to breakfast, lunch, or dinner and a good visit. But foremost in his life was his love for Jehovah and wanting to share his hope with others.
Hap is survived by two daughters, Lindy, and husband Larry Eslick of Charlo, and grandson, Davey Shacklett. Diana, and her husband Kreg Hopingardner and granddaughters Shona, Anita, Amanda, Alicia. Four brothers, Lee, Maynard, Robert, and Jon Rost, and a sister Madeline Rost Utter. Many cousins and nieces and nephews. He also has a large extended family of friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Lavina.
A memorial service will be Saturday, Nov. 25 at 2 p.m., at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Columbia Falls. With a gathering of friends and family at the senior center in Columbia Falls following the memorial service.
Columbia Mortuary in Columbia Falls is in charge of the arrangements.
Allen R. Dickey
Allen R. Dickey, Sr., 76, passed away Saturday, Nov. 18, 2006, at his home in Spokane, following a short illness with cancer. He was a former Columbia Falls resident.
He was born March 20, 1930, to Marie and Edward Dickey in Provo, Utah.
He was married to Jo Ann Sorensen in Pine City, Minn., Jan. 25, 1955. They moved to Columbia Falls in 1956 and Allen was an employee of Anaconda Aluminum Co. for 30 years. The Dickeys moved to Spokane in 1988 after his retirement.
The Dickeys celebrated their golden wedding anniversary with family and friends during a cruise and picnic at Lake McDonald last year.
He was a loving husband, father, brother and friend to all and will be missed. Allen was always ready to help friends and relatives with carpentering, electrical, or other projects.
Survivors include his wife, Jo Ann, daughter, Lynn McDonald, Salt Lake City, son, Reese, Helena, daughter, Mona Himmelberger, Dayton, Wash., son, Bart, Spokane, brother, DeForest, Butte. There are eight grandchildren, four great-grandchildren as well as numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and extended family.
Robyn Ann Gillespie
Robyn Ann Gillespie, 59, of Columbia Falls passed away on Nov. 18, 2006 after a long and courageous battle with cancer at Colonial Manor in Whitefish.
Robyn was born on Jan. 30, 1947 in Kalispell, Montana to Bonnie and James Konen. Robyn lived most of her life in Columbia Falls enjoying the outdoors and everything Montana had to offer. She had a great love for horses, competing in numerous barrel racing competitions in her younger years. She enjoyed passing on this love for horses to everyone, especially young people.
Another passion of Robyn's was being an advocate for abused women and children. She worked many years on the Abuse Hotline and even opened her home as a safe house for needy families.
Robyn is survived by a brother, Jon Konen of Dillon Montana, a son, Terry Clark and his wife Kathy of Seattle Washington, a daughter, Chandra Cornelia and her husband Dave of Lewiston, Idaho and granddaughters, Whitney and Bryn Cornelia of Lewiston Idaho and Olivia Rickert of Kalispell Montana.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, Nov. 24, 2006 at 2 p.m. at the Columbia Mortuary in Columbia Falls.
