Carol G. Rea Masters

Carol G. Rea Masters went to be with her Lord Saturday, Nov. 18, 2006, at the Fountain Springs Health Care in Rapid City, South Dakota

Carol was born November 27, 1915, to George and Mabel Rea in Kimball, South Dakota. She grew up on a farm twelve miles south of Kimball. She graduated from Chamberlain, South Dakota, High School in 1933.

While attending beauty school in Mitchell, South Dakota, she met Wayne E. Masters. They were married in January 1935 by the Reverend Frank McGovern, father of Senator George McGovern.

Carol became a pastor's wife when Wayne entered the ministry after working for the Milwaukee Railroad almost ten years. Their pastorates included Granite Falls, Minnesota, Milbank, South Dakota, and Whitefish, Montana. They retired in Big Fork, Montana in 1975. In 1992, they returned to South Dakota and made their home in Rapid City.

She is survived by her five children: Ronald and LaVonne Masters of Rapid City, South Dakota, Gary and Carol Masters of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Janice Masters of San Diego, California, Dennis and Barbara Masters of Anaconda, Montana, David and Lorene Masters of Kalispell, Montana, seventeen grandchildren and twenty great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Wayne, three grandsons and one great grandson.
