The Wave Golf Scramble will take place at the Whitefish Lake Golf Course on Aug. 19 beginning at 2 p.m. The event is a fund-raiser for The Wave's scholarship program and the Youth Swim Club. Prizes include $15,000 in cash for a hole-in-one, longest drive and closest to the pin. Team entry fee is $300. For more information, call The Wave at 862-2444.

The Whitefish Lake Swim will take place Aug. 27 at City Beach. There will be a one-mile swim for ages 18-and-over and a half-mile swim for ages 17-and-under. Water temperature is expected to be about 65 degrees. Wetsuits will be allowed. Registration for the half-mile swim will begin at 8:30 a.m., the pre-race meeting will be at 9:15 and the race starts at 9:45. The event is a fund-raiser for The Wave's scholarship fund and the Wave Ryders swim team. Entry fees are $15 to $20. Register online at active.com or by calling Holly Apple at 862-5869.

Whitefish Park And Recreation will host the Whitefish Tennis Tournament at the Grouse Mountain tennis courts Aug. 25-27. The event is for players 16-and-older and will be divided into singles, doubles and mixed doubles categories. Players will also be divided by skill level, and there will be an over-60 category. The Whitefish Lake Triathlon will be held Sunday, Aug. 20, at City Beach. The race starts at 9:30 a.m. The event consists of a half-mile swim, a 20K bike ride and a 5K run. A wetsuit is recommended but not required for the swimming section. Participants can sign up by calling the Kalispell Athletic Club at 752-2880. The cost to pre-register is $38 for an individual or $96 for a team. The cost to register on the day of the race is $43 for an individual and $105 for a team. Following the triathlon will be a barbecue and an awards ceremony, with T-shirts and more than $1,000 in raffle prizes.

The Big Mountain Trail Run will be held Saturday, Aug. 26, beginning at 9 a.m. at the Big Mountain. Registration will take place from 8 to 8:45 a.m. outside the Hell Roaring Chalet. Cost is $5 students, $10 adults or $20 family. All proceeds benefit the Glacier Nordic Ski Team. For more information, contact Debbie at 862-2113.

The Seeley Lake Triathlon will take place Aug. 19 with a 300-yard swim, a 13.3-mile bike and a 3.3-mile run. The race will start at the Riverpoint Campground on Seeley Lake. Youth With A Mission-Lakeside will hold its 11th annual golf scramble on Aug. 22 in Polson. This is the organization's only fund-raising event of the year. Youth With A Mission send volunteers all over the world, including several teams of relief workers who were sent to Thailand after the December 2004 tsunami and to the Gulf Coast after Hurrican Katrina. The golf scramble is a 27-hole event. For more information, call 844-2221.

The 10th annual Whitefish Chamber Golf Tournament will take place Friday, Sept. 22, at 1 p.m. at the Whitefish Lake Golf Club. The format is a four-person scramble with a shotgun start. The team entry fee is $300. Lunch will be provided at 11:30 a.m. Hole contests include closest to the pin, longest drive and longest putt.
