More important issues than music

| August 10, 2006 11:00 PM

Talk about the ultimate "tempest in a teapot." I just returned from Europe, where the conversation is Israel, Iraq, Darfur and the probable next terrorist attack on Great Britain. Also, lest I forget, Italy's victory in the World Cup.

No wonder the rest of the world thinks America is losing its collective mind. If anyone can't exercise for one hour out of the day without listening to Christian music, I suggest a trip to the real world, or at least to The Peak, where their needs can be accommodated.

That Ms. Coco thinks she has been made to feel a bigot is indicative of a larger problem — the separation of church and state is a fundamental American tenet, and many in this country have lost sight of this Constitutional guarantee.

Her assertion that being of Asian descent, and thereby linking her Christianity with racial discrimination, is specious. I'm married to an Asian, and he has never used his ethnicity as an excuse for success or failure.

I don't know if public funds were and/or are being used for The Wave's operations. If they are, then any religious music is inappropriate.

If not, I would go one step further than Mr. Palchek — put on some blinders, as Ms. Coco apparently would prefer to remain oblivious to the rest of the world.

Additionally, I haven't heard or read of any Catholics, Jews or Buddhists expressing dissatisfaction with The Wave's music selections.
