Diverse town, diverse values

| August 10, 2006 11:00 PM

I am getting tired of reading about all of those "deeply offended" by the disallowing of Christian music in their cycling class.

You need to realize that this "diverse" town you speak so highly of is not entirely comprised of Christian worshippers. Be sensitive to that. Your self-centered, self-pleasing attitude is not becoming.

I am not in your cycling class, but if I were, I certainly would have complained about the choice of music. You may have started out as a group of like-minded religious spinners, but as your class grew and included non-Christians, you should have been sensitive to that.

The issue here is religion. It's not about being subjected to offensive music. Religion is a very personal and private matter and needs to remain that way. Come to think of it, would you comfortably attend a spin class held at a prime exercise time in which the bulk of attendees were Muslims chanting "Praise Allah" and listening to jihadi hymns?

You can play all the Christian music you want at home, but please realize that this wonderful community facility is a non-denominational public forum for exercise.
