Senior rummage

Rummage sale at North Valley Senior Center takes place Friday and Saturday, Sept. 16 and 17. Hours are from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m.

Firefighter benefit

The Coram-West Glacier Fire Departments will have their 31st annual benefit dance at 8 p.m. Sept. 24 at the Dew Drop Inn in Coram. Music provided by the Don Lawrence Orchestra. Admission is free. In addition to music and food, there will be donations from local artists and two round trip tickets on Amtrak, as well as a $1,000 shopping spree at Bitney's furniture. Raffle tickets can be purchased at the Inn or at the Glacier Center.

Chamber rummage

The Columbia Falls Chamber of Commerce annual rummage sale is now taking donations. All donations are tax deductible and proceeds benefit Columbia Falls projects, such as the Jack-o-Lantern Festival, the Children's Holiday Village, city murals, banners, and new city signs. No clothing, please. Sale is Oct. 7-8. Drop off items two days before. Call Carol at 892-2075 or Curves for Women at 892-9988.

Council vacancy

The Columbia Falls City Council now has a vacancy on its board as Tad Rosenberry has resigned. The vacant seat will be filled from now until Dec. 31, 2005. Applicants must be 18, a citizen of Montana, and a city resident for 60 days. Applicants can send letters of interest as well as resumes to: Columbia Falls City Clerk, 130 6th St. West Room A, Columbia Falls, MT 59912 by Sept. 30.

The Columbia Falls City Police Commission now has an opening on its board. The vacant seat will be filled from now until May 2007. Applicants must be 18, a citizen of Montana, and a city resident for 60 days. Christian women

The Columbia Falls Women's connection invites all women for lunch at 11:30 a.m. Sept. 21 at the North Valley Community Room. Ron and Carol Pierce will entertain with special music and Norma McCallister of Pearland, Texas, will speak on flee markets and garage sales. Theme of meeting is to celebrate everyone's birthday. Thrift fund-raiser

The Soroptimists of Whitefish will hold a fund-raiser Thursday, Friday and Saturday, Sept. 15-17, to raise money for disaster relief to help the victims of Hurricane Katrina. From 1 to 5 p.m. on those three days, the Soroptimists will hold a "bag" sale at the Thrift Haus in Whitefish. Shoppers get a grocery bag of used items for $3. Proceeds split between the American Red Cross and Salvation Army for hurricane assistance.

Young guns

The Young Guns 4-H shooting program is looking for young people between 8-18 to participate in air rifle, air pistol and archery competitions. If interested, attend the membership meeting at 6 p.m. Sept. 18 at the North Valley Community Room. Call 892-1944 for more info.
