Notable lack of cheer

| September 7, 2005 11:00 PM

I am once again disappointed in the fact that your sports page has again omitted any mention of the cheerleaders at Bigfork High School.

My daughters have been involved in the cheerleading program for the past six years. During the past six seasons there has been no mention or picture of the cheerleaders. They dedicate themselves to practice beginning in mid-summer through the end of basketball season (July through March). They are bound by the same sports contract as any other athletes. They are there for all the football, volleyball and girls and boys basketball games. Along with practicing and cheering at the games, they are responsible for making signs on all the athlete's lockers, signs around the high school supporting all sports, and planning and decorating Winter Formal.

They deserve some recognition as does their coach, Heather Epperly.

Also it would be nice when printing the pictures of all the various teams, which should include the cheerleaders, it would be nice to list their names so those of us who are interested in the Bigfork High School sports program know who we are cheering for.
