Twins rehire Helber, plan meeting

The Glacier Twins American Legion Baseball organization recently negotiated a 2006 contract for Jack Helber, Head Coach of the Twins AA team.

Helber, 64, has over 30 years of American Legion, high school, and college baseball coaching experience and 2006 will mark Jack's fourth year at the helm of the AA team.

At the same time, the Twins announced that Scott Murray and Bob Lockman would return as head and assistant coaches, respectively, of the Glacier Twins A Team.

The Twins have scheduled a General Meeting on Nov. 17 to introduce coaches, discuss significant events planned for the 2006 season, and conduct early sign-ups.

This meeting is mandatory for all new and returning players and is open to all parents, family, and team supporters as well. American Legion Baseball player eligibility requirements states that anyone born on or after January 1, 1987 is eligible to play in 2006.

Players attending Bigfork, Columbia Falls, and Whitefish high schools are eligible to sign up for the Glacier Twins.

This meeting will be at the North Valley Hospital Community Room (lower level) with a social gathering starting at 6:30 p.m.. Refreshments will be available while you visit with the coaches and board members. The regular meeting is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m..

One of the Twins major fundraising events, the hanging of Christmas garland (roping) at various North Valley businesses and residences, is scheduled to begin the weekend of Nov. 19-20 in Columbia Falls and Whitefish.
