Jane Cichock
Jane Frances Cichock died Oct. 22, 2005, in Provena Cor Mariae, Rockford, Ill.
She was born Nov. 24, 1927, in Detroit, Mich., the daughter of Charles and Anna (McEnhill) Doran. Jane was a graduate of St. Theresa High School and Providence School of Nursing in Detroit. She was employed as a registered nurse at Providence Hospital, Veterans Hospital and Oakwood Hospital in Detroit, and Saint Anthony Hospital, Northern Illinois Blood Bank and Rockford Drop Forge in Rockford. She retired in 1994.
Jane loved to read and to share her love of reading. She organized the Great Books Program at St. Mary's of Redford School, Detroit, and St. Edward's School and St. Rita's School in Rockford. She founded the St. Rita's School library.
Jane was assistant coach for St. Rita's girl's basketball and softball teams for many years and a volunteer at St. Stanislaus' annual Polish Fest.
Jane's dedication to the Lord and her faith community was demonstrated as a religious education instructor, choir member, lector, Eucharistic minister, Bible study group member, chaplain aid at SwedishAmerican Hospital, member of the Ladies Guild and Women's League. In 1998, Jane received the Rockford Diocese Woman of the Year Award for St. Rita's.
Jane was predeceded in death by her parents Charles and Anna Doran; husband Eugene Joseph Cichock; and sisters Margaret Doran, Anna Mae Ivory, Elaine Vogel and Patricia O'Connell.
Jane is survived by her children, Mary Ann Bushaw and husband David, of Rockford, Ill., Thomas Cichock and wife Kathe, of Whitefish, Mark Cichock, of Arlington, Texas, James Cichock and wife Susie, of Rockford, Joseph Cichock and wife Cindy, of Satellite Beach, Fla., and Nancy Anderson and husband Marc, of Milwaukee, Wis.; grandchildren Brian Bushaw, of Madison, Wis., Patrick and Kevin Bushaw, Mary Cate, Eugene Joseph II, Maximilian and Francis Cichock, all of Rockford, Lauren, Caroline, and Rebecca Cichock, of Arlington, and McLaren, Seamus and Nigel Anderson, of Milwaukee.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 28, in St. Rita Catholic Church, with visitation from 9 a.m. to service time. The Rev. Gerald P. Kobbeman will officiate. Ruth Ost
Ruth Zella Ost passed away peacefully on Oct. 27, 2005, at North Valley Hospital in Whitefish. She had spent the last several months bravely fighting lung cancer.
Ruth was born in Oklahoma on July 19, 1932, to Jessie and Bertha Livingston. She was one of eight children.
In January 1949, she married Eugene Jacob Ost in Oregon. They moved to Whitefish in 1950 and began raising their family. They had six children, losing one infant daughter immediately following delivery.
Ruth spent her life as a homemaker. Family and friends remember here as the most selfless woman they've ever known. She was always concerned about everyone else, never herself. She was the best mom, "gramma" and "great gramma" to her family. She really loved unconditionally.
Ruth lived a very simple life and was not too interested in material things. She enjoyed playing Yahtzee and poker to pass the time. She also enjoyed yard-saling, wind chimes and hummingbirds. She loved to grow her own tomatoes, and she loved to eat them and share them. Most of all, she loved to spend time with her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband Eugene Jacob Ost, infant daughter Paula Jean Ost, daughter Debra Ann Ost and grandson Christopher Managhan.
She is survived by daughter Carolyn Wehr; sons Bob, John and Mike Ost and wife Kelly; grandchildren Teri Hill and husband Gene, Kim Role and husband Mark, Dustyne Salminen and husband Shane, Amber Ost, Torey, Devyn, Christina and brand new grandson Jacob Ost; great grandchildren Rusty, Jesse and Cody Hill, Kortney, Garrett and James Role, Tanner and Colter Salminen; and many more extended family members.
At Ruth's request, a private urn burial took place on Nov. 1, 2005. She now rests peacefully beside her husband in Whitefish Cemetery.
