With pride

| June 23, 2005 11:00 PM

Thank you VFW Post 4042 for the most inspiring Memorial Day service ever. We watched with pride as your proud VFW members, in dark pants, white crisp shirts and blue vests edged in gold trim, marched up and stood at dedicated attention as guest speakers and officers of the VFW spoke. They reminded us of all the years of service and sacrifice that make Memorial Day so meaningful to all of us.

As Montana blue skies cheerful sunshine shown brightly on the many flags and flowers all over the cemetery, families, friends and visitors from all over, sat under the white canopy sharing in the service with their children and grandchildren taking part by placing flags to remember loved ones.

And yes, there was many a tear as taps was played slowly and reverently filling the air with such clarity and sound. A final treasured touch added a stirring echo to the day; a young lady ended a nostalgic and wonderful ceremony with the heart touching "Amazing Grace" on the bagpipes.

Please Bigfork, come and enjoy this local inspirational ceremony next year. You'll come away with pride in our veterans and a great appreciation for a splendid salute to all who have served everyone, everywhere over the years.
