Won't be in parade

To the editor:

North Valley Senior Citizens will not have a float in the Heritage Days parade and have cancelled plans for the afternoon public bingo party at their center. Announcement that the parade time had again been changed from 12:30 p.m. triggered this decision. We are not a "group of diehards," but join with others in protesting the mid-afternoon parade. Heritage committee suggestion that bingo could be conducted during the morning is not feasible. It would interfere with our traditional Heritage Day public luncheon starting at 11 a.m.

We have hopes of future public bingo sessions. The required application for this is on hand to file with the state.

Hopefully Heritage Day committee members will work with local residents and organizations next year.

Supports roadless

To The Editor:

I am one of the 25 million Americans who have written letters and attended meetings on the Roadless Rule. I have been working for protection of the roadless areas of Whitefish and Galton Ranges for years.

I have hiked and hunted these wild mountains; Tuchuck, Thompson Seton, Nasukion, Deep and Krinklehorn, to name a few, for 20 years.

I urge Gov. Schweitzer to please help reestablish the Roadless Rule as a law of the land. It really is quite simple.

Montanans and Americans want protection for our roadless lands.
