The Whitefish Pilot did well at this year's Montana Newspaper Association meeting in Dillon, "Rendezvous at the Beaverhead."

The Pilot as a whole took three first-place awards, including best special section for "100 years with the Whitefish Pilot," best front page and best headline writing.

Former editor Christine Hensleigh took two first-place awards, including best educational reporting for a story on Whitefish High School exceeding state grade averages and best in-depth reporting for a story on local housing issues.

Hensleigh also took three honorable mention awards, including best sports feature for a story on ski waxing, best feature story for an article on the secret lives of beekeepers, and best column writing.

Former photographer Lindsey Nelson took second and third place in the best feature picture category for "Soggy situation" and "Ringing in the season."

Judging this year was done by the Idaho Press Club. The Whitefish Pilot belongs to the Division II Weeklies category, for newspapers with 1,501 to 3,000 readers.
