Evelyn Halliburton

Evelyn J. Halliburton, 77, of Fergus Falls, Minn., and formerly of Bigfork, passed away Tuesday, July 12, 2005 at Pioneer Retirement Community in Fergus Falls. Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, July 29 at Bethany Lutheran Church in Bigfork with Pastor Jack Shannon officiating. Internment will be in Bethany Lutheran Cemetery in Bigfork.

Evelyn Jean Halliburton was born Sept. 13, 1927 in Sidney, Mont., the daughter of Otto G. and Neva May (Herbert) Olson. She was called from this life to be with her Lord on July 12. She was 77 years and 302 days in age.

Evelyn was baptized and confirmed into the Christian faith Dec. 17, 1940 at Aastad Lutheran Church is rural Fergus Falls by the Rev. Axel Sheferland. On Feb. 7, 1947, Evelyn was united in marriage to Lue A. Halliburton Jr. in Wolf Point, Mont. Lue passed away in 1992. Together, they were able to share 45 years of marriage.

Evelyn attended grade school in Crane, Mont., and School Districts 64 and 118 in rural Fergus Falls. She graduated from Fergus Falls High School in 1945 and moved to eastern Montana where she taught in rural elementary schools. After moving to Bigfork, Evelyn worked 12 years as church secretary at Bethany Lutheran Church. Among the things Evelyn enjoyed were singing in church choir, square dancing, sewing and hunting. She also had a special passion for her kitty cats.

Evelyn is survived by two sisters, Marion (Orwell) Hoff of Fergus Falls and Mabel (Lester) Brown of Salem, Ore., as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Lue in 1992, parents Otto and Neva May Olson, two sisters—Hazel Johanson and Margaret Hanson, and two brothers—Herbert and Marvey Olson.

The family requests memorial be made to Bethany Lutheran Church in Bigfork.

Cremation was by Olson Funeral Home of Fergus Falls.
