Community help

On Dec. 15, the Whitefish Golden Agers, your senior center, was honored by the Whitefish Community Foundation with a grant to enable us to purchase two computers for the use of the senior community.

We appreciate this generous grant, which will improve computer literacy and intellectual stimulation among our seniors.

The Golden Agers has been blessed during the year with help from many fine people and businesses, and we offer our thanks and gratitude to Betty Fay Brown, who donated funds to purchase a new stove and double ovens for the center; the City of Whitefish, whose donation of $1,000 helped defray city utility costs; Mark Venery, of North Country Log Works, who not only donated generously to the center but also solicited gifts from Western Building Center, Midway Rental, Les Schwab Tires, Northwest Tool and Rocky Mountain Tile and Stone.

In addition to those who have given of their treasure, we have many volunteers who give of their talent and time. They are indispensable, serving meals at the center and delivering more than 7,000 meals annually to those who are home bound and who would otherwise be denied the joy of living in their own comfortable and familiar surroundings.

We couldn't open our doors without help from the community which we serve. It is through the generosity of our benefactors and volunteers that we are able to provide nutritious meals and a warm, friendly, caring environment for those who built our city and who made it the wonderful place to live that we all enjoy today.

May the Christmas message of hope and peace be with all our friends, benefactors, volunteers and members not only as we celebrate the Holy Birth but throughout the coming year; and may God bless you abundantly for all you do for others.
