Funds raised

| December 15, 2005 10:00 PM

Last week, before the Christmas Stroll, the Pilot ran a photo of the Adams twins at their booth in front of Bear Mountain Mercantile with signs explaining the bake sale to benefit Heifer International.

The hope of the 10-year-old twins was to raise enough money through their bake sale to be able to buy a water buffalo for a needy, tsunami-impacted farming family in Indonesia.

The final accounting is truly a testimony to the generosity of the Whitefish people: Danielle and Dakota raised $685, enough to fund two water buffaloes, a goat and chickens.

Whitefish folk came by the booth and skipped receiving change for the baked goods. Five-dollar and ten-dollar bills were handed over for $1 and $2 worth of cookies. The spirit of giving remains alive and well in this precious, unselfish community.

Our thanks to the Pilot and the people of Whitefish. You're all blessings to each other and to a needy world.
