Montana spirit

| December 1, 2005 10:00 PM

Whitefish has always epitomized the Montana spirit of rugged independence and a strong sense of freedom. In the last few years, there has been what seems to be a left-coast haze creeping into our wonderful community.

You can't fly the American flag if it's too big. Don't use a sign to let people know you have a business here. Don't paint anything until you have the colors approved.

You can't even walk home after a night out downtown. Why do you need light to see at night anyway? Oh my God, the balloons … the balloons. Don't even think about having fun on the lake anymore.

This doesn't sound like the Montana spirit that was once felt by most people here. We need to shine the light of that Montana spirit on this ever encroaching haze and take our town back.

We must keep the whiners from fogging things up.
