Wildcats named all state, conference

| November 15, 2004 10:00 PM

The Wildcat soccer team had an impressive showing on the All-State and All-Conference lists this year, with six players receiving top honors from coaches around the area.

Devon Hagen, Lee Kizer and Cory Pete were all named to the All-State team this year. Hagen led the defense, while Kizer recorded multiple shutouts as goal keeper. Pete, a junior, was one of the top scorers in the conference and had two hat tricks for the season.

Kizer is also a junior and will return next year.

All three players, plus Guy Smith, were awarded First Team All-Conference honors as well. Smith, a junior, was a key midfielder who helped the Cats control the ball in the middle all season.

Jake Bengtson and Bobby Opp both received Second Team All-Conference honors for their abilities this year. Opp and Bengtson, both juniors, were part of a fantastic defensive line-up that held opponents' goals to a minimum.
