Marvin Larson

Marvin O. Larson, 84, left us Nov. 3, 2004, to be at peace with his Lord.

He was born on Nov. 14, 1919, in Hendrum, Minn., to Lars and Cora Larson. They moved to Eastern Montana in 1924 to homestead a farm. In 1935, they moved to the Flathead Valley.

Marvin worked for the CCC camp and helped build the Going-to-the-Sun Road in Glacier Park. He later joined the Army and served in World War II, European Theater, 12th Air Force. He returned from the war in 1945.

Marvin met and married Edna F. Anderson in 1948 and started a family in the LaSalle area. They raised five children and continued farming until retirement in 1982.

Marvin was a charter member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church, and a member of LaSalle Grange. He loved to go camping, water skiing, snowmobiling and farming. In later years, he took up golfing and helped out driving truck for local forest fires.

"Dad loved chatting with family and friends; we will miss his stories, but know he is surely dancing up a storm in heaven with mom."

He was preceded in death by his wife Edna; brother Lyle; and son-in-law Gary Koepke.

Marvin is survived by sisters Muriel Hayes, of Oklahoma, and Emogene Baldwin, of Kalispell; sons Rodney, of Whitefish, Virgil and wife Denise, of Kalispell, and Kevin and wife Wendy, of Columbia Falls; daughters Terry Koepke, of Missoula, and Melanie Olson and husband Ken, of Columbia Falls; 14 grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and numerous relatives and friends.

A memorial service was held Nov. 6, 2004, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Columbia Falls.

The family requests memorials be sent to Our Savior's Lutheran Church.

Beverly Field

Beverly B. Field, 70, passed away Nov. 5, 2004, at her home following a lengthy battle with cancer.

She was born Oct. 15, 1934, near Koesauqua, Iowa, to Stuart and Madeline McCracken. After attending grade and high school in Newton, Iowa, she took nurses training in Des Moines, Iowa.

Beverly married Sam Bolton in 1955. The couple moved to Montana where their three children were born. They were divorced in 1977. In 1980, she married Richard N. Field. After retirement, they enjoyed traveling. Bev enjoyed reading, painting watercolors and being with family and friends when they lived at their home on Swan Lake. In 1995, they moved to their cabin on the Middle Fork of the Flathead River.

She is survived by her husband Richard at the family home; her mother Madeline McCracken, of Great Falls; three children, Shan and Barbara Bolton, of Lolo, Jeff and Karen Bolton, of Sierra Vista, Arizona, and Valerie Bolton Meister and husband Matt, of Vancouver, Wash.; four grandchildren; stepson Ralph Field, of Fairfield, Calif.; stepdaughter Belinda Field, of Austin, Texas; and four step grandchildren.

Bev is preceded in death by her father and a brother.

A special thank you to Dr. Goodman and a super caring staff, Lois, Dwanna, Janelle, Brenda and Kim, for their care and concern over the years.

A memorial service was held Nov. 9, 2004, at the United Methodist Church in Columbia Falls. Pastor David Jones officiated.

Lee H. Johnson

Lee H. Johnson, age 74, passed away on Oct. 29, 2004, at North Valley Hospital in Whitefish. He was born on Dec. 18, 1929, in Conway, S.C., the son of Leo and Reba (Martin) Johnson.

Lee received his early education in Conway and continued in Charleston before joining the Navy at the age of 17. He was able to complete his GED and two years of college while on active duty. Lee retired in 1965 and, after returning to North Carolina, went to work for Mosler Safe & Coin. He worked in Tennessee, Kentucky and California before retiring in Tennessee in 1982. Lee met Nancy R. Hardgrove Ray in 1995 and the couple married on April 10. 1999 in Kalispell. He enjoyed fishing, camping, coin collecting and NASCAR races.

Lee was preceded in death by his father, two brothers, William and Wendall, and two sisters, Letha Jones and Elizabeth Speers.

He is survived by his wife Nancy; his mother Reba Sanders, of Ridgeway, S.C.; three sons, Michael Johnson and wife Nancy, of Hillsboro, Ore., Matthew Johnson, of Molalla, Ore., and Mitchell Johnson and wife Deann, of Auburn, Wash.; daughter Melissa Glad and husband Joe, of Portland; five stepchildren, Laurie Severson, of Dayton, Tammy Gossett, Robert Hardgrove and wife Katrina, and Schrie Jones and husband Eric, all of Kalispell, and Boon Hardgrove of Columbia Falls; brother Al Sanders, of Winnsboro, S.C.; sister Gail Derrick and husband Jay, of Virginia; 22 grandchildren; and 17 great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Nov. 3, 2004, in the Johnson Mortuary Chapel, with Pastor Dan Wurster, of Trinity Lutheran Church officiating. Urn burial followed at C.E. Conrad Memorial Cemetery.
