A place to rest

| July 28, 2004 11:00 PM

To the editor,

Since the death of my 19-year-old son four years ago, I have been a regular visitor at the cemetery in Columbia Falls. I would like to say that I appreciate the staff there and the hard work they put into keeping the grounds looking nice.

I am continually amazed how many regular visitors there are. Over the four years since Erik died, I have come to know many other parents of children who died too young.

Having a place where we can come to grieve and feel closer to them is so very important. Being able to go to the grave site and display memorabilia is part of the grieving process for many. Hanging season-appropriate decorations helps us to feel as if we are doing something, and many of us are still in that part of grief and need this expression.

Thank you to the folks who take care of the resting place of our children.
