Hall's negotiating shows leadership

| July 13, 2004 11:00 PM

It was encouraging to finally see some movement with the city-county jurisdiction proposal at Tuesday's City Council work session. After a long impasse, both sides seemed willing to give and take in the task of shaping new planning boundaries for Whitefish.

We commend commissioner Gary Hall for his role as negotiator. He's had the difficult task of representing the wishes of the other two commissioners, Howard Gipe and Bob Watne, and trying to meld those desires with a palatable plan for both the city and the county. With Hall's leadership and diplomacy, it seems feasible a plan that benefits both the city and the county can be chiseled out for the long run.
