New pool to bear O'Shaughnessy name

The competition pool in The Wave, the new Whitefish Community Aquatic & Health Center, will bear the name O'Shaughnessy, in recognition of a major contribution to the project.

The right to name the pool came with a substantial increase in an already generous pledge made to The Wave by the I. A. O'Shaughnessy Foundation, the same foundation that contributed a major donation to the I.A. O'Shaughnessy Cultural Arts Center in Whitefish, which also bears the O'Shaughnessy name.

Wave project chairman Dan Weinberg praised the mega gift, saying the project has been a community effort from the beginning. Donors asked that the amount of the gift be kept confidential.

Construction on The Wave facility, located on Baker Avenue in Whitefish, continues toward the anticipated mid-January 2005 opening.

Anyone interested in making a donation or pledge to the project may call 862-2444, or visit www.whitefishwave.com for more information.
