High price of oil

Have you wondered who is paying for the thousands of dollars of TV advertising that Bush is using to try to get re-elected?

Bush is spending the copious contributions that he obtained from the oil industry.

The people in the oil industry can easily afford to contribute to the Bush campaign handsomely. Gasoline sales in Montana annually amount to 505,600,000 gallons. A raise of one cent per gallon annually costs the people of the State of Montana $5,056,000. That amounts to $13,852.05 per day.

The oil industry has raised the price of gasoline in Montana 40 cents per gallon. A raise of 40 cents per gallon costs the people of Montana $554,082 per day. If the oil companies leave the 40 cent outrageous increase in price in place for a full year, they will collect from the people of Montana $202,239,930.

Whenever you see a Bush TV ad, you don't need to wonder who paid for that ad—you did.

The real question is, at the rate of $200 million per year for increases in oil prices out of our pockets here in Montana, can we afford Bush and his oil buddies for four more years?
