Quilters meet

Teacher workshop

On Aug. 20, area teachers, scout and 4H leaders, home school teachers and other educators are invited to explore more than 10 educational trunks that focus on the natural resources. TOPS meets

TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) will host an open house informational meeting for anyone interested in taking off pounds sensibly and forming a Sunday afternoon chapter in Columbia Falls. Frosh orientation

Freshmen orientation at Columbia Falls High School will take place on Monday, Aug. 30, at 6 p.m. for all new students and parents. Come prepared to ask questions and meet school administrators and teachers.

Wood carving

The annual woodcarving rendezvous at Glacier will take place again this year at the KOA campground outside of West Glacier Aug. 19 (today) through Sunday, Aug. 22. Folks interested in learning more about wood carving can just show up any day and sign up for workshops. The cost of each workshop is simply the cost of the wood. Activities begin at 8 a.m. each day.

Fall kick-off

The Columbia Falls Booster Club will hold its annual fall Blue-and-White kick-off barbecue Aug. 23 at 5 p.m. with the introduction of teams and volleyball scrimmage at 7 p.m. Cat/Paw painting is Aug. 19 at 6 p.m.

Rummage sale

Our Savior's Lutheran Church will hold a rummage sale from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Aug. 27 and from 8 a.m. to noon Aug. 28 at Fourth Avenue West. There will be a bake sale plus coffee and goodies. Call 892-3784 for more information.

Kitchen grant

The Columbia Falls Community Kitchen, which serves meals to the needy, recently received a $750 grant from the Aid to Needy Program from the diocese of Helena. The kitchen serves free meals at 6 p.m. in the basement of St. Richard's Catholic Church the last four days of the month.

Treasure sale

The North Valley Hospital Auxiliary's trash and treasure sale is from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 18 and Sept. 19 at the Stumptown Ice Den in Whitefish.
