Flathead Valley Ski Foundation team members enjoyed over 40 inches of fresh powder at Big Sky last weekend as mountain crews labored to maintain a packed surface for ski racing.

The races finally came together with one race on Saturday afternoon and two races on Sunday. The Lone Peak Speed Series event was part of a season-long schedule of events run within the Northern Division of the U.S. Ski & Snowboard Association. Northern Division includes all of Montana and parts of Wyoming and South Dakota. Youth skiers ranging in age from 12 to 18 were competing in U14, U16 and U19 classes to qualify races for their respective Western Region Championships in March.

The FVSEF team secured nine total podium spots including Christian Lund with three second place finishes, Colin Harper with a first and third place finish, Carson Keim with one first place, Campbell Fox and Tyler Anderson each with a second place and Jordon Jurasek with a third place.

The Flathead Valley Ski Education Foundation is a nonprofit community-based organization that promotes athletic, academic and personal excellence for Flathead Valley youth through participation on the FVSEF Ski Team.
