The Bulldogs got plenty of mat time heading into the winter break with duals at home and in Browning last week.

Whitefish hosted Ronan and Browning on Dec. 17, beating Ronan in points but falling to the latter.

Kadin Brown (120) earned wins against both teams.

Then on Thursday the Bulldogs headed to Browning, where they faced off against Columbia Falls and Ronan.

Over the weekend the team also traveled to Great Falls for the CMR Classic.

Head coach Danny Neff said he’s pretty happy with how things played out.

“We competed pretty well. We’re still banged up, we’re still missing a few kids, but overall we competed well for the amount of kids we have,” he said.

The team is still waiting for Dakota Flannery and Nathan Sproul, both state tournament competitors last season, to return from injuries sustained earlier in the season.

In the meantime, Neff said he’s trying to keep his wrestlers conditioned and focus on some technique while they have time over break.

“We always want to reach our peak right at divisionals and state. So we’re not quite where we want to be. I will admit were one of the best conditioned teams in the state, we keep moving and we find our opposition pretty gassed come second, third period and we’re still hanging our heads high,” he said.

“We’ve still got a ways to go and we’ve got a lot of season, but I’m excited with where we’re at.”

The Bulldogs compete next Jan. 3-4 at the Western A Duals in Ronan.
