Helen Gertrude (Thoring) Herberg passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 2, 2019 at the age of 84 in Everett, Washington. She was born in Williston, North Dakota on July 3, 1934 to the late Anton and Louise Thoring.

Helen grew up on their farm near Alamo, North Dakota, with her six siblings Evelyn, Raymond, Lester, Gladys, Morris and Dorothy. She graduated from Alamo High School. Helen married Duane Loren Herberg on May 31, 1952. They lived in Williston, North Dakota and for a short time in Alaska during Duane’s service in the Army. They moved to Whitefish, Montana, in 1956 and later to Seattle, Washington, in 1967.

Helen loved working with people. During her career she was employed in food service, banking and real estate. She started her own cleaning business in 1988. In addition, she was a care-giver for the elderly. Helen loved playing card games with friends and family and doing crossword puzzles. She enjoyed dancing at the Moose Lodge and looked forward to New Years Eve dances with Duane (celebrating his birthday). Helen had a strong and independent spirit. She made friends easily and had a joyous laughter.

She was preceded in death by her husband Duane in February 1981. She is survived by her sister Gladys Boe of Wadena, Minnesota, Dorothy Kvigne of Whitefish, Montana; her four children Todd Herberg of Surprise, Arizona; Peggy Pritchard (Tom) of Issaquah, Washington; Lance Herberg (Maria) of Seattle, Washington, and Terrill Herberg of Mountlake Terrace, Washington; nine grandchildren Jennifer Wooldridge (Brad), Michael Herberg (Dara), Aleta Pritchard (Rob), Kristin Herberg, Christina Enkelis (Britten), Kari Herberg, Erik Herberg, Trevor Herberg and Travis Herberg; nine great-grandchildren Serany, Michael, Kyler, Kaylee, Nickolas, Evan, Gabriel, Lance and Angelica and numerous nieces and nephews.
