The Whitefish baseball team wrapped up its season with a dominant four-game stretch, capped by a pair of home victories at the Sapa-Johnsrud Invite. The Bulldogs finished the year with a 15-4 record, showing consistency at the plate, depth on the mound, and the kind of momentum any team hopes to carry into postseason play.

Whitefish kicked off the week with a convincing 12-2 win over Missoula Hellgate on Tuesday, using a fast start to take command. The Bulldogs plated five runs in the first inning and added three more in the second to jump ahead 8-0. Ryan Conklin went 3-for-4 with two RBIs, and Drew Queen drove in two runs on a pair of hits. On the mound, Sam Akey tossed three solid innings, giving up just one unearned run on one hit, while Reed Boyer struck out five in two innings of relief.

The bats stayed hot the next day in a 12-3 win over Eureka. Whitefish pounded out 20 hits, including multi-hit performances from nearly every spot in the lineup. Tait Orme went 3-for-4 with two doubles and three RBIs, while Queen, Barone and Conklin each added three hits. Logan Stewart picked up the win with 5.1 innings of work, scattering seven hits and allowing just two earned runs.

Whitefish continued its strong play during the Sapa-Johnsrud Invite on Friday and Saturday, starting with a 7-4 victory over Frenchtown. The Bulldogs exploded for seven runs in the bottom of the first inning. Though Frenchtown responded with a few runs, the Whitefish bullpen shut things down from there. Bear Barket and Carter Godsey combined for three shutout innings, with Godsey striking out two in the final frame.

Saturday’s 11-8 win over Polson showcased the Bulldogs’ resilience. After building a 6-0 lead through four innings, Whitefish saw Polson rally for eight runs in the fifth. But the Bulldogs answered with two runs in the fifth and sixth to retake control. Max Barone went 3-for-3 with a double, and Christian Schwaderer added a two-run triple. Calvin Eisenbarth launched a home, while Orme and Hobart each contributed key RBIs. Despite early struggles, the Whitefish pitching staff settled in, with Logan Stewart closing the door with a scoreless sixth.

Over the four-game span, Whitefish outscored its opponents 42-17 and racked up 45 hits. The Bulldogs’ depth and balance were on full display — with multiple players contributing both offensively and on the mound. While they didn’t qualify for the state tournament, they certainly finished the season on a high note.
