Lady Bulldogs win divisional track meet
The Whitefish track and field team had a dominant showing at the Western A Divisional Championships in Polson, with multiple top-six finishes across sprints, relays, distance races, hurdles and field events, setting the stage for a strong presence at the upcoming state meet. The girls as a team won the divisional championship, while the boys took fourth.
On the boys’ side, Riley Zetooney placed fourth in the 100 meters (11.63). Colby Minton added a sixth-place finish in the 100 (11.71) and took fourth in the 200 meters (23.41). The duo joined Scott Dalen and Bodee Hanson for a third-place finish in the 4x100 relay (44.17), while the 4x400 relay team—Minton, Ethan Amick, Preston McPherson and Simon Douglas—nearly captured gold, taking second in 3:25.07.
Whitefish was also well-represented in the 400, where Minton (3rd, 50.16), McPherson (4th, 50.48), and Amick (8th, 51.71) all placed in the top eight. Douglas, already a top distance performer, took home the win in the 800 (1:54.59) and 1600 (4:22.17), highlighting the team’s depth. In the hurdles, Carson Gulick placed third in the 110m hurdles (15.69) and sixth in the 300m hurdles (41.87).
In field events, Cameron Diehl vaulted to sixth in pole vault (12-0), and Anderson Barrile placed fifth in shot put with a mark of 45-9.25. Sol Holmquist added a silver medal in the girls’ javelin (111-0), and Grace Sliman won the girls’ high jump (4-10).
The Lady Bulldogs were led by Rachael Wilmot, who swept the 100 (12.70), 200 (25.31), and 400 (58.14) titles. Ginger Bergland added to the team’s points with a third-place finish in the 200 (26.64), third in the 100m hurdles (16.13), and second in the 300m hurdles (46.26).
Whitefish’s 4x100 girls relay team took third (51.43), and the 4x400 team—anchored by Wilmot—grabbed third as well (4:14.04).
