Whitefish athletes shine at Triangular
The Whitefish track and field team showcased its depth and speed in front of the Bigfork crowd on Thursday, May 1 during a triangular meet with Columbia Falls and Bigfork, notching multiple individual victories and personal bests on both the boys and girls sides.
The Whitefish boys swept the top three places in the 100 meters with Riley Zetooney (11.21), Bodee Hanson (11.33), and Colby Minton (11.42) leading a dominant Bulldog showing. Scott Dalen and Preston McPherson also cracked the top eight. Zetooney returned to win the 200 meters in 23.09, while McPherson (23.82) and Dalen (24.42) added key points.
In the 400 meters, Minton led a 1-2 finish with a personal-best 51.05, followed by McPherson in 52.20. Carson Gulick (55.05) and Zetooney (58.87) added depth.
Simon Douglas delivered the highlight of the distance events, crushing the 3200 in 9:48.35, a personal best and one of the top marks in Class A.
Whitefish dominated the 4x100 relay with Minton, Ethan Amick, Dalen, and Temirlan Tolepov clocking 44.78. In the 4x400, the squad of Zetooney, Colt Moss, Dalen, and McPherson ran a 4:01.57.
In the field, Anderson Barrile (41-4.5) and Braylon Dunn (38-7) placed top-eight in shot put, with Dunn (124-0) and Barrile (109-6) also excelling in discus. Jordan Harmon placed second in triple jump (36-2), and Bodee Hanson cleared 12'6" in pole vault for third.
On the girls side, sprinter Rachael Wilmot headlined the girls results, winning the 100 in 12.58 and 400 in 58.84. Ginger Bergland was second in the 400 (1:01.52), and Mila Maddock placed second in the 100 (13.24).
Sophie Douglas took first in the 800 meters (2:39.80) and added a third in the 3200 (13:12.60). In the 4x100 relay, Whitefish's A team (Wilmot, Bergland, Maddock, and Anna Boysen) cruised to victory in 50.83.
High jump was a highlight with Grace Sliman (5'0") and Bergland (4'10") going 1-2. Chantry Krack added a long jump and triple jump double win, clearing 14'4" and 31'1.75".
In throws, Gabby Diehl was fifth in shot put (25'5"). Kaydence Blackwell threw 87'2" for fourth in javelin.
