A record number of triathletes stormed through town during the annual Whitefish Lake Triathlon on Saturday.

For the Classic Sprint event, athletes swam 1/2 mile in Whitefish Lake, starting and finishing at City Beach, then biked 12.4 miles up Wisconsin Avenue and East Lakeshore Drive and ran 3.1 miles.

Reigning local champs Ryan Seguine, 45, and Carrie Jacobs, 44, claimed wins again, with times of 1:05.05 and 1:16.17, respectively.

Whitefish grad Lincoln Schroeder was first in the 18-and-under category and sixth overall. He crossed the finish line in 1:15.56.

A total of 148 participants, ranging in age from 14 to 69, finished the race. Most competitors were local, but there was a good number of visitors, too, with people from about 14 different states and several Albertans competing.

Numbers grew from 128 participants in 2024. In 2022, there were 63 participants. Years past saw closer to 40-50.
