The annual Whitefish Arts Festival returns for its 46th year this week.

The festival begins Friday, July 4, from 10 a.m. - 6 p.m., and runs Saturday, 10 a.m. - 6 p.m., and Sunday, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. The festival is in downtown Whitefish at Depot Park and is presented by the Whitefish Christian Academy.

The Whitefish Arts Festival draws artists and visitors from across the country to celebrate creativity, craftsmanship and community. There will be handmade art from national and local artists.

Whitefish Gallery Nights offer a fun opportunity to admire exceptional exhibitions at one of nine participating art galleries in downtown Whitefish. They run every first Thursday from May through October. The next one is on Thursday, July 3 from 5 – 8 p.m.

Several galleries will have receptions and refreshments. John Isaiah Pepion’s “Here Come the Blackfeet” will have an opening reception at FoR Fine Art.

Pepion bridges historical memory with contemporary expression through Ledger art, a tradition of using book pages, maps and ledger books, which developed in Plains tribes as the buffalo hide they used for painting became scarce.

Other participating galleries in Whitefish Gallery Nights include Cawdrey Gallery, Dick Idol Signature Gallery, Glacier Sotheby’s, Going to the Sun Gallery, Hollman Miller Gallery, Stumptown Art Studio, The Walking Man Frame Shop and Gallery and Underscore Art.
