Inspection stations at Whitefish City Beach and Whitefish Lake State Park will open May 1, with regular hours of 7 a.m. - 9 p.m. through the month of May. Starting Memorial Day weekend, hours will extend until 10 p.m.

New this season, watercraft decontaminations will be by appointment only. Plan to schedule a decontamination at least 24 hours in advance between the hours of 9:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday to Sunday. The Prevention and Decontamination Station will open May 1 and there is no charge for decontamination. Visit https://secure.rec1.com/MT/whitefish-mt/catalog to schedule a decontamination.

Coming this fall, the city of Whitefish is planning access improvements at Whitefish City Beach boat launch. The boat ramp will be extended on both sides by 20 feet to allow for the launching of all boats even during low water. The access road will also be widened for a safer approach to the inspection station. The projected cost of the entire project is $140,000.

The city is seeking donations to help increase safety and ensure accessibility to Whitefish Lake. Visit https://app.seemylegacy.com/community/1776 to support the project.
