Whitefish High School seniors give back

Whitefish High School seniors participated in their annual community give back day last week.
The tradition is “our way of giving back to the community that’s helped us so much to get through high school,” said senior Jake Dunker at a district school board meeting April 8.
The senior class of 120 students split up for projects across town. Some students visited Mountain View Care and Rehab and The Springs at Whitefish assisted living homes for “seniors with seniors,” playing games and making Easter crafts.
Students also went to Going to Giggle Preschool, Montessori School, the Food Bank Distribution Center, and Smith Fields for projects.
At Mountain View, older seniors shared memories of growing up in Whitefish.
“The wisdom shared was invaluable and witnessing the natural interaction and smiles was a highlight of the year that the teachers, residents and students will not soon forget,” said Kari Baxter, one of eight teachers who assisted during the day.
“My hope is that we will continue the relationship between our classrooms and the living history opportunities in our community,” she said.
At the end of the day, the students reconvened at Pin & Cue for some bowling.
