The Whitefish High School speech and debate team came in second at an invite in Polson on Saturday.

The Bulldogs earned 84 points and took second place in the sweepstakes with Frenchtown in first and Polson in third. The team was small in numbers again last week but competed well.

The Whitefish team of Addie Blackaby and Zoe Tremper were the champions in the public forum debate and the team of Alex Losee and Vana Fortune placed second in the policy debate category.

Whitefish student Annie Walsh took second in humorous interpretation. Six other Bulldogs placed in the top 8 in various categories to earn points for Whitefish.

“Although our team was still small, every person on the bus earned sweepstakes points for us. Scoring 84 points was a feat with 10 entries,” Whitefish coach Sara Mueller said. “Helping the effort were public forum debate champions Addie Blackaby and Zoe Tremper, as well as runner-up champions, Alex Losee and Vana Fortune (Policy Debate) and Annie Walsh in [humerous interp].

Whitefish will compete again on Saturday at the East Helena Invite.
