Glacier Twins back in the win column

The Glacier Twins returned to their winning ways last week after taking down both Kootenai Valley and Libby.
The Twins won 10-2 over the Kootenai Valley Rangers on Tuesday, May 17 and stuck out a close one with Libby, 9-2, on Wednesday. The new tallies improve Glacier’s record to 6-1.
Against Libby, the Twins scored twice in the opening inning off wild pitches before both teams settled in. Glacier held a slight lead over Libby for the majority of the game before the Twins broke open the scoring in the final two innings.
After six innings Libby’s starting pitcher Caden Williams checked out of the game and the Twins took advantage. In the eighth, Twins’ Jake McIntyre hit an RBI double to get the offense rolling, followed by a single from Hayden Meehan. Three runs in the eighth inning gave Glacier a substantial lead.
In the fourth Libby allowed the Twins four more runs. Five walks and two Libby errors made way for Glacier to score multiple times and secure the game.
Glacier’s Talon Murphy started the game on the mound, allowing one run on two hits while striking out three. After the third inning, Meehan came in as relief and let by one run on four hits with five strikeouts.
Against Kootenai, Glacier took the lead over the Rangers in the third with a three-run inning. The Twins added four more runs in the seventh and three runs in the eighth for a 10-2 victory.
In the fourth, Meehan tripled which scored one run, Josiah Ruther singled on a 3-1 count to put away another run and Maddox Muller drew a walk which scored a run.
The Twins’ four-run seventh inning was led with a single by Kellen Kroger, a groundout by Ruther and a double by McIntyre.
McIntyre started on the mound for Glacier, striking out three and allowing two runs over three innings.
Glacier ended the game with 12 hits — McIntyre, Mason Peters, Kroger, and Meehan each managed multiple hits and McIntyre went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead the Twins.
The Glacier Twins are back at Memorial Field tonight to face Kalispell A for a doubleheader beginning at 5 p.m.
Then the Twins will play the Lakers AA away on Friday and home on Saturday. The home game starts at 6:30 p.m.
