Twins close out reg season with wins over Bitterroot

The Glacier Twins’ regular season came to an end on Sunday when the home team took down the Bitterroot Red Sox in a doubleheader at Memorial Field.

The Twins nabbed two wins over the Sox — 8-7 in the opener and 10-3 in the second game. The two wins improve Glacier’s record to an impressive 30-8 with the district tournament coming up this weekend.

On Sunday in the opening game, the Twins had a 5-2 lead over the Sox heading into the sixth inning. In the top of the sixth, the Bitterroot’s offense started rolling and they regained the lead after a 5-run inning. During the inning, Glacier’s Mikey Glass came on as relief pitcher and was able to close it out without any more runs.

The Twins were able to make up one run in the sixth, held Bitterroot scoreless in the top of the seventh and then took the lead in the final inning. In the bottom of the seventh, Glacier’s Mason Peters singled which sent teammate Owen Shilling across for the tying score. Next, Stevyn Andrachick scored on an error to take the game.

The Twins had 10 hits in the game with Peters and Mikey Glass having multiple hits.

In the second game, Glacier took the lead early and sealed the deal in the bottom of the sixth with a 5-run inning.

Peters toed the rubber for the Twins and went three innings, allowing one run on two hits. Glacier racked up 10 hits again.

The Twins are readying to compete in districts beginning on Thursday and running through Sunday in Kalispell. Check the Twins’ Facebook page for a schedule of the tournament.
