Bulldog speech and debate team hosts tournament
The Whitefish speech and debate team was host to 15 schools for a tournament on Saturday at the high school.
Several Whitefish students finished with their best individual placings of the year thus far. Whitefish had two champions in the tournament. In dramatic interpretation, Gabby Pickert took first place and Adrienne Healy was first in informative speaking. Pickert also took third place in informative speaking.
“Whitefish High School was proud to host this event this weekend,” Whitefish coach Sara Mueller said.” On the competition side, we were excited to see several students finish with their best placings of the year and keep at home two championships.”
In public forum debate, the Whitefish team of Addie Blackaby and Zoe Tremper placed second and in extemporaneous speaking Sydney Garcia came in second.
Whitefish as a team took third in sweepstakes, finishing behind Frenchtown in first and Columbia Falls in second place.
Mueller added that Whitefish was glad to be able to host the tournament and expressed gratitude for the volunteers that made it possible.
“We thank the many community members who made this weekend possible,” she said. “We endured many stressors and changes in the days before with the state of our world, but felt supported and encouraged by the volunteers and schools within our community.”
