The Whitefish High School speech and debate team competed at the Glacier Invite in Kalispell on Friday and Saturday.

The Bulldogs came in third in the sweepstakes, finishing behind Frenchtown in first and Columbia Falls in second place.

Individually, Whitefish senior Adrienne Healy took second place in the informative speaking category. Another senior, Gabby Pickert, placed third in dramatic interpretation at the tournament.

Whitefish coach Sara Mueller said she was grateful the team had the opportunity to compete in person over the weekend. The team is now heading into the last week before divisionals and state.

“We were grateful for the opportunity for an in-person tournament this weekend,” she said. “It really helped to get some pieces off the ground even with a greatly depleted team. We are heading into the home stretch of the season with our home tournament this (upcoming) weekend, Jan. 15, followed by divisionals and state.”

The Bulldogs will host an invite at Whitefish High School on Saturday beginning at 8 a.m.
