Preseason uphill skiing regulations are now in effect at Whitefish Mountain Resort, resort officials announced Tuesday.

Forest Service rules limit uphill skiing during the 14-day preseason to the East Route between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. The route begins at the Base Lodge and is marked with red diamond-shaped signs.

There are no uphill or downhill route restrictions before 8 a.m. and after 4 p.m.

It is also unlawful for people to approach within 100 feet of grooming machines, or within 50 feet of snowmaking equipment at the resort. Snowmaking operations are currently underway.

Once the season begins, an uphill pass or day ticket will be required for uphill travel, and a waiver will need to be signed.

The uphill pass if free for Whitefish Mountain Resort season passholders. Non-passholders can purchase an uphill ticket for $13 a day or an uphill-only season pass for $125.

The resort’s ski season is slated to begin Tuesday, Dec. 7.
