Whitefish soccer athletes honored with all-state, all-conference selections

Whitefish athletes again had major representation in the postseason honors for boys and girls soccer.

The Whitefish boys team won its fourth-straight State A title after defeating Columbia Falls 3-2 in the final on Oct. 30. The Bulldogs have not lost a game since 2017 and their continued dominance on the field this season resulted in a 15-0-0 record.

The Whitefish Bulldogs also outscored opponents 84-11 throughout the season and senior Gabe Menicke was the Class A boys scoring leader with 27 goals and 12 assists.

Resulting from this season’s success, five Bulldogs were honored with Class A All-state and first-team All-Conference selections including Gabe Menicke, Chase Sabin, Darby McCarthy, Aaron Dicks and Will Peppmeier. All five of these athletes were seniors on the championship team.

Also from Whitefish, sophomore Collin Lyman, senior Willem Gray, sophomore Charlie Hyatt and sophomore Ryder Elliott were honored with All-conference second-team selections, and senior Niko Hunter was an All-conference honorable mention.

This season the Whitefish girls team made a run to the State A semifinals where they fell to Billings Central 5-1. The Lady Bulldogs, with a record of 13-1-0, found their goal-scoring touch this season as they finished the year scoring 92 goals while only allowing 14. The Whitefish girls scored the most goals total out of any Class A team this season.

Whitefish was led by senior leading goal scorer Emma Barron who scored 27 goals and had 11 assists to be No. 4 among the Class A girls soccer scoring leaders for 2021.

Barron was honored with All-state and first-team All-conference selections along with teammates Anna Akey, Isabelle Cooke, Adrienne Healy and Brooke Roberts. Josie Schneider and Olivia Genovese were also on the All-conference first team.

For All-conference second team, Maya Lacey and Lucy Lowry represent Whitefish and senior Sophie Olson was an All-conference honorable mention.
