Fast finishers at annual Big Mountain Run

The 39th Big Mountain Run saw some fast times from local runners.

The top-five racers, including fifth place overall and Queen Jennifer Lichter of Whitefish, all ran the 3.8 mile uphill race in under 40 minutes. King winner Drew Coco, clocking in at 35:20, beat his winning time from two years ago by a minute. Coco grew up in Whitefish and led the Bulldog track and cross country teams during his high school years. He has now turned his sights to ultra-marathons and won the Whitefish Trail Legacy run 50k Ultra two years ago.

Both winners along with the other top runners hail from Whitefish and Kalispell, and are training for The Rut 50k to be held in Big Sky, Montana on Sept. 5.
